SETTINGS
The settings is that, the author is Dorris Lessing a British writter who was born in Persia. In 1924 the family moved to Rhoderisia to farm there and the storry took place on the first morning of the holyday at the small crowded beach and later at the large beach that Jerry knew from other years. It happened in Frace because of the language used in the storry. This was also during summer as people do swim only during that season because it use to be hot.
THE PLOT
This storry is actually about the 11 Year old Jerry who was in the holyday with his windowed mother. He met a group of local youth, older than himself. The next morning his mother asked if he was tired of the ussual beach and asked if he would like to go somewhere else but Jerry said no. They went to the small beach and later to the big one. When he was so far swimming he floated on the surface and looked at his mother, he swam back to shore to ensure that it was her. He swam toward the boys that were on the edge of the cape. They started diving together and he felt he was accepted.
THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CHARACTERS
The characters are Jerry and his windowed mother. Jerry was 11 years, english young boy and fatherless. Jerry wsa the only son. He was a jealous boy since he was jealous of the big boys that he was with at the beach. The protagonist Jerry was a good swimmer and he believed in himself that he can swim. He act on unfailing impulse of contrition.
