SETTINGS
The storry took place in Johennesbug at the Oriental Plaza, a shooping centre where the shops are owned by the Indian people, by the author called Ahmed Essop. The Plaza developed as a resut of the apartheid government's Group Area Act, which forced different race group to live separetely. Indian shopkeepers were eventualy allowed to set up their shops in Plaza area. Mr Ahmed was born in Idia and moved to South Afria in1931 with his family.
THE PLOT
This story is about mrs Nebo who was the wife of the important official of the African Front, Clive Nebo. Her companion was her friend Margaret. The two ladies were on a shopping expedition and entered the portals of the Plaza. Mrs Nebo saw the Indian dress on a dumpy in a shop window and decided to buy it When she went to pay for the scarf on the diferent shop she had not enough cash to pay as only cash were allowed, she gave the cheque but the shopkeeper told her that only cash is allowed. Then after a while mr Sader spoke to Mr Sakur to give the scarf as a preset to her as a gift, Mrs Nebo accepted it happly and say'As people like you eill be no place for them in the new democratic South Afica' whe she lookd at the shopkeeper and left.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CHARACTERS
Mrs Nebo is the protagonist' a rich woman and a wife of a rich man. She wears expensive clothes end jewellery emerged. She has an expensive car. She is a rude woman who thinks everyone arround her is poor and she does not care about others. She is a selfish woman. She hate black people and hates poor thatr she only likes rich people like herslef
